On This Day In 1979 Blondie's Heart of Glass Goes Platinum
Soon turned out had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
Much of mistrust, love's gone behind
Once I had a love and it was divine
Soon found out I was losing my mind
It seemed like the real thing but I was so blind
Much of mistrust, love's gone behind
In between
What I find is pleasing and I'm feeling fine
Love is so confusing there's no peace of mind
If I fear I'm losing you it's just no good
You teasing like you do
Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
Much of mistrust, love's gone behind
Once I had a love and it was divine
Soon found out I was losing my mind
It seemed like the real thing but I was so blind
Much of mistrust, love's gone behind
Lost inside
Adorable illusion and I cannot hide
I'm the one you're using, please don't push me aside
We could've made it cruising, yeah
Yeah, riding high on love's true bluish light
Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out I had a heart of glass [radio version]
Soon turned out to be a pain in the ass [album version]
Seemed like the real thing only to find
Much of mistrust, love's gone behind
There is nothing quite like a well written song..
I spent the day researching some great songwriters
Freddie Mercury
Elton John & Bernie Taupin
Axle Rose
John Lennon.....
I was touched & saddened by taking another look at just how affected
people were when Aids became an epidemic in the early 80's
How it was considered Gay Cancer..that a notable physician would be quoted
as saying there was no point to finding a cure, after all the world would be better off
with a few less fags.. look at us now..look at Africa..it breaks my heart...
Elton John called his decision to become sober and stay sober
"one of my greatest lifes achievements."
He wrote the song Someone Saved My Life Tonight about his plight
which can bring tears to my eyes if I let it.
A great song is one in which moves you, makes you understand better what is going on,
makes you take a look at yourself, your lover,
speaks truth when there isn't any...
And Debbie Harry is this kind of songwriter..
I think any woman in love can relate to this song..
She still rocks today just as she did 30 plus years ago..
Inspired as always by The Sunday Creative
Music helps, heals, however you want to put it. My whole mood can switch.
ReplyDeleteSo many great songwriters!
